In 1966, The O'Jays released their breakthrough single, "Lipstick Traces (On a Cigarette)." In 1989, Levert was arrested for possession of cocaine and sentenced to six months in prison. The incident threatened to derail The O'Jays' career, but Levert emerged from rehab determined to rebuild his life and music.
Later Years and Legacy
Despite the setbacks, The O'Jays continued to release albums and perform live. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005 and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2004.
